Pre-Build Plan Review
Before you build it, make sure you love it.
When you’re designing a home, you can spend months looking at the same plans. You make changes, move things around, look at different options, and eventually it gets harder to see the plans with fresh eyes.
I know this because it happens to me, too.
Even after doing this for years, I can come back to a project after a day or two away from it and see something differently.
That’s really the idea behind our Pre-Build Plan Review.
We’ll take an independent look at your plans before you build and give you another perspective. We’re not here to redesign your house or tell you that your architect or designer got something wrong. In most cases, there isn’t one “right” way to design a home. There are simply different ways to approach it.
We may see a room that could function better, a traffic pattern worth reconsidering, a different way to use a space, or simply something we think is worth asking about before construction starts.
We’ll look at things like room layouts and sizes, how you’ll move through the house, kitchens and living spaces, doors and windows, storage, furniture placement, and how the spaces relate to one another.
Some of our suggestions may make sense to you. Others may not. That’s okay.
My dad taught me this business, and something he said to clients has stuck with me throughout my career:
“It’s not my house. You’re the one who’s going to live there.”
That’s still how I look at design.
A Pre-Build Plan Review is simply another experienced set of eyes and a few more things to consider while changes are still lines on a drawing instead of walls in your house.
Before you build it, make sure you love it.
